The teaching aims to present the complex geographies of food production, distribution and consumption in a globalised world, focusing on the processes that link local food chains with global markets and the relationship between food policies and environmental and social sustainability. On these premises, the course explores the relationship between food and territorial processes in urban and rural contexts that are interrelated and located in various regions of the planet, paying specific attention to the Italian and Ligurian case in particular.

The teaching will be organised alternating lectures in frontal, participatory and asynchronous format: frontal lessons will be aimed at identifying and understanding basic knowledge; participatory teaching will be based on problem-based strategies aimed at stimulating the ability to analyse certain problems relating to the relationship between local food policies and local development; asynchronous online teaching will be used to provide students with detailed knowledge on local food policies.
The materials used during the lectures will be uploaded to AulaWeb together with other materials (reports, links to databases, etc.) aimed at clarifying the quantitative aspects of the phenomena studied.
