CODE 115525 ACADEMIC YEAR 2025/2026 CREDITS 2 cfu anno 2 INGEGNERIA EDILE 11766 (LM-24) - GENOVA SCIENTIFIC DISCIPLINARY SECTOR ICAR/12 LANGUAGE Italian TEACHING LOCATION GENOVA SEMESTER Annual MODULES Questo insegnamento è un modulo di: LABORATORIO DI PROGETTAZIONE STRUTTURALE E GEOTECNICA TEACHING MATERIALS AULAWEB AIMS AND CONTENT AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES The basic premise of this module - and of the laboratory - is to consider the architectural design of a building as the outcome of an informed prefigurative process capable of taking into account and systematizing different aspects: from formal and technological-constructive ones (the specific focus of this module), to structural and geotechnical ones (addressed in other modules). While in teaching practice these aspects are often considered separately (due to the disciplinary structure of academic courses), in this case the aim is to help students understand how to address them in an integrated manner. In line with the general objectives of the Laboratory, this module focuses in particular on the technological and architectural aspects of design, providing students with concepts and tools to approach building design with special attention to the formal and material-constructive features of the architectural object. These features, however, are to be considered in an integrated way - ensuring that design decisions take into account all other aspects, particularly the structural and geotechnical ones. By the end of this module, students should be able to: gain a deeper understanding of the prefigurative processes through which the architectural design of a building is developed; understand that the formal choices of architectural design are inextricably linked to material, technological-structural, structural, and geotechnical choices, and vice versa; acquire a design methodology capable of systematizing the different aspects mentioned above (together with others, e.g., historical-cultural, contextual, physical-technical aspects, etc., which - for teaching purposes - will only be partially considered). TEACHING METHODS The module is delivered through lectures and project reviews on the work carried out by student groups on a specifically assigned theme. SYLLABUS/CONTENT The laboratory program is defined by the teaching staff. Specifically, the module includes: one or more theoretical lectures on a methodological approach to architectural design, conceived as an informed prefigurative process capable of taking into account and systematizing aspects of different natures; a series of project reviews of the design work carried out by student groups on a specifically assigned theme. RECOMMENDED READING/BIBLIOGRAPHY Specific bibliographic references will be provided during the lectures. Within the Laboratory, this module takes place primarily in the second semester. Class schedule The timetable for this course is available here: Portale EasyAcademy EXAMS EXAM DESCRIPTION The exam methods are defined by the teaching staff. Please refer to those indicated for the Laboratory. ASSESSMENT METHODS For this module, the assessment of acquired competences is based on the discussion of the design outcomes of the group work carried out.
