EXAMS

EXAM DESCRIPTION

The arrangements for the final examination consist of an oral presentation of the final paper by the student to the final examination committee, followed by a discussion of any questions posed by the committee members.

ASSESSMENT METHODS

The evaluation of the final test by the commission is made, in the case of a passing grade, by attributing an increment, varying from 0 to a maximum of 8 as established by the School in consultation with the Departments to the weighted average (not rounded) of the marks given in the verification tests related to educational activities that provide for a final grade, taking as weight the number of credits associated with the individual educational activity.

Among the aspects that contribute to the definition of the score awarded to the final paper, the Commission must particularly take into account:
- quality of the paper;
- exposition of the paper;
- any period spent abroad in writing the paper;
- duration of the candidate's studies.

FURTHER INFORMATION

For the score to be attributed to the discussion of the thesis, the Commission has 8 points, 2 of which are considered rewarding or recognized in the case of ways in which the student's career has been carried out that are considered significant by the Course of Studies. Specifically, the two additional points are normally awarded for the so-called "Just in time" course, i.e. completed by the student within the nominal duration of the Course of Study (by March 31 of the relevant academic year), while 1 point is awarded in case the student graduates during the first useful session after the conclusion of the relevant academic year.
Up to two additional points may also be awarded at the discretion of the committee for other reasons deemed worthy of reward.
