AIMS AND CONTENT

AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES

At the end of the course, students will be able to:

  • Knowledge and understanding
    Acquire fundamental knowledge of pediatric care in the maternal and child health area, with particular attention to growth, development, and nutritional aspects in both healthy children and those affected by pediatric diseases (e.g. celiac disease).
  • Applying knowledge and understanding
    Identify nutritional needs and contribute to dietary and clinical management in pediatric patients, in preventive, educational, clinical, and rehabilitative contexts.
  • Making judgements
    Recognize growth abnormalities requiring further evaluation and interpret clinical conditions related to metabolic, endocrine, and nutritional disorders.
  • Communication skills
    Use appropriate scientific terminology to describe pediatric clinical and nutritional conditions clearly.
  • Learning skills
    Integrate clinical and nutritional knowledge and apply it to different pediatric conditions, with the ability to further deepen topics independently.

TEACHING METHODS

The course includes lectures, case discussions, individual and group activities. Multimedia materials and resources available on AulaWeb will support the learning process.

Students with certified Specific Learning Disabilities (SLD), disabilities, or other special educational needs are invited to contact the instructor and the Department's Disability Support Officer at the beginning of the course. Alternative teaching methods may be arranged, in compliance with the course objectives and taking into account individual learning styles.
