EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES (DETAILED)

The course aims to provide students with theoretical knowledge and practical rehabilitation skills related to Feeding and Eating Disorders (FEDs), with particular attention to multidisciplinary care, functional assessment, evidence-based rehabilitation interventions, and the relational and motivational aspects of treatment.
The course will explore the main clinical and rehabilitation models, individual, family and group interventions, psychoeducational and metacognitive approaches, and the development of individualized therapeutic-rehabilitation plans across different care settings.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

At the end of the course, students will be able to:

  • describe the main clinical features of Feeding and Eating Disorders;
  • understand the role of the Psychiatric Rehabilitation Therapist within multidisciplinary teams;
  • perform rehabilitation-oriented assessments focused on functioning and individual needs;
  • identify rehabilitation goals consistent with individualized treatment plans;
  • apply principles of therapeutic communication, psychoeducation, and motivational support;
  • recognize the main relational, family, and social factors involved in FEDs;
  • adopt an evidence-based and recovery-oriented approach in rehabilitation practice.

TEACHING METHODS

Lectures, interactive teaching activities, clinical case discussions, and group-based learning aimed at integrating theoretical knowledge with rehabilitation practice.

SYLLABUS/CONTENT

Clinical and diagnostic framework of Feeding and Eating Disorders.
Psychopathological, cognitive, emotional, and relational aspects of the main FEDs.
Multidimensional assessment and psychosocial functioning.
Role of the Psychiatric Rehabilitation Therapist in different care settings.
Individual, group, and family rehabilitation interventions, psychoeducation, motivational support, and work on emotional and relational skills.
Evidence-based approaches and development of individualized therapeutic-rehabilitation plans.

SHORT PROGRAMME

The course focuses on the main Feeding and Eating Disorders, addressing their clinical, relational, and rehabilitation aspects. Particular attention will be given to multidimensional assessment, multidisciplinary teamwork, evidence-based rehabilitation interventions, and the development of recovery-oriented therapeutic and rehabilitation pathways focused on the person’s functioning and quality of life.
