OVERVIEW

The course provides the basic knowledge for the development of a visual communication project, with particular reference to graphic design in the digital environment.

AIMS AND CONTENT

LEARNING OUTCOMES

The aim of the teaching unit is to provide students with the necessary knowledge to be able to manage the graphic design of products for communication in the field of new media starting from the experience gained in the field of graphic communication in the 20th century. The elements of communication - images, signs and words - are declined in order to be able to adapt to a communication that in the new millennium has become much faster, both the times of permanence in the media and the times of transformation, always offering new inputs and opportunities for the development of graphic language.

AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES

The course provides the basic knowledge required to master the principles of graphic communication and to develop a visual project using contemporary communication vectors.

In addition to this, the course aims to provide transversal skills such as:

Personal competence;

Social competence;

Learning to learn competence

Competence in project creation

Project management competence

PREREQUISITES

No prerequisites are required, as the course will address issues related to the discipline from the basics.

TEACHING METHODS

The course comprises a part of lectures and a related application through synthetic design experiences conducted individually or in groups and in any case discussed with the lecturer.

Students who hold valid certificates relating to Specific Learning Difficulties (SLD), disabilities or other educational needs are invited to contact the lecturer and the school’s disability liaison officer at the start of the course to agree on any teaching arrangements which, whilst respecting the course objectives, take into account individual learning styles.

EXAMS

EXAM DESCRIPTION

The examination consists of an oral interview and the simultaneous presentation of the work carried out during the year, and the final project, collected and processed for the final presentation.

ASSESSMENT METHODS

In order to pass the examination, an interview is scheduled to demonstrate the acquisition of knowledge and skills in the development of a visual communication project, including through the presentation of a final project to be discussed with the lecturer.

FURTHER INFORMATION

Students with valid certifications for Specific Learning Disorders (SLD) may request accommodations for exams at least 7 days prior to the exam date by filling out the “accommodation request form” (available via online services at https://modulionline.unige.it/richiesta-adattamenti# no-back), which will be automatically forwarded by the system to the instructor in charge of the course and to the faculty liaison for students with disabilities and SLDs in their School/Department. 

The student will receive a copy of their request.
