OVERVIEW

The workshop aims to provide the key tools for working in the field of digital terminology, as a complement to language teaching and to further explore specialist language (in the maritime and tourism sectors).

AIMS AND CONTENT

LEARNING OUTCOMES

By the end of the workshop, participants will have acquired advanced skills in the use of digital tools (databases, corpora, AI, etc.) for documentary and terminological research within their specialist fields.

AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES

Upon completion of the course, participating students will be able to:

- use the main multilingual terminology databases available on the web;

- create their own working glossaries in accordance with ISO standards;

- use lexical and corpus analysis tools;

- use artificial intelligence for document and terminology research.

PREREQUISITES

None.

TEACHING METHODS

Classroom-based workshops and group work.

SYLLABUS/CONTENT

The workshop will cover the following topics:

1. Main approaches to terminology: history and critical analysis

2. Digital tools for terminology: databases and applications

3. Digital tools for corpus analysis and construction (concordances, lexical analysis)

4. The use of AI for the creation of specialised glossaries

EXAM DESCRIPTION

The assessment involves compiling a final glossary comprising 10 terminology entries for each language under study.

ASSESSMENT METHODS

The comprehensiveness and accuracy of the glossary will enable participants to assess the skills they have acquired during the workshop.
