AIMS AND CONTENT LEARNING OUTCOMES Acquire theoretical knowledge in bacteriology, virology, parasitology and theoretical-practical knowledge of the main laboratory techniques for the identification of pathogenic agents through bacteriological investigations (direct and culture), serological, immunometric, virological. Acquire notions on antibacterials and drug resistance. Acquire fundamental notions on Mycobacteria, on diagnostic techniques, on the main stains and molecular biology techniques, liquid and solid culture media, the main pathologies related to these microorganisms. The examination is based on oral tests for each of the integrated modules, which must be taken on the same day. Assessment and passing the examination. A candidate who achieves a mark of less than 18/30 in any of the oral tests will be automatically failed and will have to retake the entire examination. The examination is considered passed if a mark of at least 18/30 is obtained in all the assessment tests. In this case, the final examination mark will be equal to the weighted average of the individual assessments. All the above applies to both Italian and foreign (including Erasmus) students attending the course. ASSESSMENT METHODS Verification of learning is carried out through the oral exam, aimed at verifying the real acquisition by the student of the expected learning outcomes. In order to pass the exam the student will have to demonstrate a good knowledge of the etiological basis and the pathogenic mechanisms of diseases I humans and the ability to analyze the technical aspects of possible diagnostic approaches; The following items will contribute to the final mark: - ability to critically discuss the requested topics; - accuracy, clarity, synthesis and fluency; - competence in the subject; - speaking ability and correct use of terminology.
