LEARNING OUTCOMES

The general objectives of the immunohematology II course are to provide students with theoretical-practical knowledge on the techniques applied in transfusion medicine and for the study of immune-mediated pathologies, allowing them to acquire knowledge on: blood components, hemapheresis, transfusion therapy and reactions, hemolytic anemia autoimmune, autotransfusions, immunohematology techniques (groups on adults and newborns, Coombs test direct and indirect, pre-transfusion compatibility tests, cross-match, anti-platelet antibodies) - cord blood banking, stem cell treatment and disposable cell banks therapeutic-in vitro and in vivo study methods; analysis of lymphocytes, their functions and the pathological implications of their dysfunctions; The sources of hematopoietic stem cells for transplantation purposes; GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) guidelines for the treatment of stem cells; cryopreservation of stem cells for use in autologous transplantation; manipulation of stem cells for use in allogeneic transplantation; preparation of stem cells for the production of CAR-T cells.
