AIMS AND CONTENT

LEARNING OUTCOMES

Understand the concept of quality of health services and services as well as the main methodologies of its measurement and evaluation in healthcare contexts.

AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES

Acquire the knowledge necessary for the distinction between qualitative and quantitative research in the field of health professions. Apply this knowledge in scientific reasoning to use the most suitable methods to study the two types of research. Evaluate the quantity and quality of the methods used in the main diagnostic techniques applicable in the health professions.

TEACHING METHODS

Theoretical lectures (20 hours of instructional activities) will cover the topics outlined in the course syllabus, with an interactive approach and ample opportunities for in-class practical exercises.
In the event of an emergency, activities may be conducted online in accordance with University guidelines

SYLLABUS/CONTENT

Notes on the main statistical tests and algorithms (including machine learning) used to validate the hypotheses formulated through the use of qualitative and quantitative research. How to create a clear and complete graphic representation of the results obtained, and in particular of the tools capable of simultaneously displaying several variables with two and/or three-dimensional diagrams (Volcano plot, Heatmap, Correlogram, and scatter plot).

EXAMS

EXAM DESCRIPTION

The exam will consist of a written test (multiple-choice quiz) administered in person or on a digital platform.

The test is passed with a score of at least 18/30.

The final grade will be averaged (weighted) with those of the other modules.

ASSESSMENT METHODS

The exam will verify the achievement of the training objectives; in particular, the student's knowledge of the distinction between qualitative and quantitative research, of the methods used and how to analyze the results obtained will be ascertained.
