The course in brief

Presentation

The architect trained by the Degree Course is a nationally and Europe-wide recognised professional.
He combines scientific knowledge, technical skills and cultural background to develop projects aimed at adapting the changing world we live in - from the building to the territory. He/she combines scientific knowledge, technical skills and cultural preparation to develop projects aimed at adapting the spaces in which we live - from the building to the territory - to the changing world.
He or she must be able to work in complex situations, compare with other experts, take on board the contributions of others and synthesise the requests of users and clients, without losing sight of the general interest and sustainability of the interventions.

Consult the Course presentation brochure: Architecture - Brochure (Architecture - Brochure).

Learning by doing

This is a fundamental principle of the architect's training project; it is based on workshops and the complementarity between them and teaching, many of which include exercises and practical tests.
Workshops, summer schools, visits to construction sites, study trips, meetings with professionals and practitioners, and internships in collaboration with the Order of Architects all contribute to creating the figure of the new designer.

Professional outlets

The architect is a malleable figure, who is employed in different fields and in different roles. As a freelance professional, entrepreneur or company employee, or civil servant, he or she is involved in construction, in the studio, in the workshop and on the building site; in furniture and interior design; in restoration; in spatial planning and government; in landscape and the environment.
The degree course offers many opportunities to come into contact with the world of work through scholarships, internships, meetings; workshops and lectures deal with current issues with the participation of subjects and institutions that are directly involved.

Learning objectives

The course develops the student's critical and analytical skills, and deepens and teaches how to apply the knowledge and tools acquired in the three-year course of study in the project.
At the completion of the degree course the student:

  • has the basic knowledge of the historical-critical and technical-scientific disciplines of design
  • is able to develop solutions and strategies to organise spaces according to individual and collective needs, in different contexts and at different scales
  • is capable of intervening in the built environment and the architectural heritage, whether ancient or recent, while respecting the values it expresses
  • is able to address the challenges of the contemporary world in terms of objectives (safety, sustainability, sharing) and tools

Training activities

The student devotes approximately half of his or her time to laboratories, which train the student to tackle complex problems, in which scales and disciplines are integrated, privileging one dimension of the project: architecture, town planning and landscape, restoration, new technologies.
The compulsory subjects deal with the history of architecture, representation, structures and installations, regulations, management and evaluation.
A series of optional subjects are offered so that the student can develop his or her aptitudes towards a specific aspect of design and develop his or her own cultural and professional profile.
The course of study maintains strong links with the world of work and encourages contacts between students and professionals, organisations and companies involved in architecture, the environment and the territory.

To find out more about the course, to find out about the teaching and other activities, and to see some of the projects of the laboratories and application courses from the last academic year, consult the booklet (english version).
