A brief history of afro-brazilian literature
Lectures and seminars in italian and portuguese. Attendance is heartily recommended. Students who are unable to attend will have to study some supplementary material
The course explores the constructions of brazilian culture as an identity with strong african roots. The lectures examine narratives and also arts (cinema, popular music and photography). Attention will be paid also to relationship between afro-brazilian culture and the african literatures written in portugues (Angola and Cape Verde).
