The course is a 12-credits-course consisting of
- a theoretical module of 30 hours (held in the 2nd semester) in which basic concepts of text lingustics are presented and illustrated;
- an applied module of 40 hours dedicated to deepening and expanding oral and written competence in the German language;
- an applied module of 40 hours aiming to provide students with basic skills of German-Italian translation;
- an applied module of 36 hours focusing on German Languages for Special Purposes.
The goal of the theoretical module is 1) to illustrate the main concepts of Text Linguistics and 2) to describe the structural and functional characteristics of different text genres and types.
At the end of the course students will possess the methodological framework for a linguistic analysis of different textual occurrences.
The goal of the applied module is the attainment of instrumental competence of German corresponding to level C1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
The theoretical module will be partly in form of frontal lessons and partly in form of seminars.
The applied modules will be in form of practical lessons.
Classes will be held mostly in German.
Topics covered in the theoretical module are the following:
a brief history of the text linguistics;
the concept of text and the textuality criteria;
the structure of texts;
the function the texts;
text types and genres in German.

As for the theoretical module students may choose between
- an oral examination (duration: 20 minutes), consisting in the presentation of a topic chosen by the student and two questions selected by the examiner;
-an oral presentation (15 minutes) based on a scientific paper with group discussion (5 minutes).
