The main manufacturing technologies and joining processes of polymeric materials are analyzed. The course is completed with the description of the rapid prototyping techniques. TEACHING METHODS Lectures SYLLABUS/CONTENT After an introduction to the classification of tecnopolymers (thermoplastics and thermosets), the characteristics of the main families are analyzed: polyolephine, polyvinyl resins, styrenic resins, acrylic polymers, phenolic resins, polyamides, polycarbonate, polyesters and epoxy resins. The description of standardized tests, used to define plastic materials characteristics follows. The description of the main technological processes (extrusion, injection moulding, etc.) and joining techniques (welding and bonding) are also dealt with.
