OVERVIEW

Second-year course that aims to to outline the basic elements of the philosophies of history; this course required an elementary knowledge of moral philosophy and/or a minimum training in historical matters

AIMS AND CONTENT

LEARNING OUTCOMES

Students will become aware of the basic features of modern philosophy of history (linear time vs. cyclic time, the idea of 'plenitude', christian eschatology and the idea of progress) through the study of monographies and relevant classics

the course will adress to main areas.

1) basic features of modern philosophy of history  (the concept of cyclic time and the idea of 'plenitude', the concept of linear time and christian eschatology , modern individualism and the idea of progress (3 CFU)

2) origin of modern individualism : 'paulinism', Reformation and 'second reformation'
