OVERVIEW

The course is divided into an institutional part, which includes individual study of Medieval and Humanist Latin Literature; and a monographic part which consists of lectures on specific topics.

AIMS AND CONTENT

LEARNING OUTCOMES

Learning the main study tools of Medieval Latin literature and philology and, the main literary authors and genres from the 5th to the 13th century. Examining the tradition of Medieval Latin texts in light of ecdoctic issues. Analysis and annotation of exemplary texts.

TEACHING METHODS

Lectures with readings and annotations of poems by Enea Silvio Piccolomini, Callimaco Esperiente and relative critical literature.

Programme for students taking the course for 6 cfu

 

a) Institutional course:

- Medieval and Humanist Latin Literature from the 6th to the 15th century

 

b) Monographic course:

 

- Love lyrics in the 15th century: from Enea Silvio Piccolomini to Callimaco Esperiente.
