A systematic description of materials used industrially for heterogeneous catalysis and adsorption processes is given. Acid, base, oxidation, hydrogenation, dehydrogenation, polymerization catalysts. Adsorbents for gas purification, water purification, gas and liquid mixtures separation. Morphological, structural and surface properties of these materials. Reactors for catalytic reactions and adsorption processes (PSA, TSA, purge swing and vacuum pressure swing adsorption).
The objective is to provide a deep knowledge of the materials applied in the industrial processes as catalysts and adsorbents, and of analytical techniques applied for characterization of such materials. In particular the understanding of the relationship: bulk structure / surface structure / surface reactivity is expected to be learned. Criticism in practical application concerns will also be learned.
