the course introduces students to the knowledge of the basic items concerning the vessels’ utilization, including their safety and security, and maritime carriages of goods, through an analysis of the relevant national, international and E.C. laws and rules.
The aim of the course is to introduce students to the knowledge of the basic items concerning the vessels’ utilization, including their safety and security, and maritime carriages of goods, through an analysis of the relevant national, international and E.C. laws and rules.
The main shipping rules are considered in their legal and contractual aspects, giving more relevance to those items which are fundamental in respect to the modern systems of maritime international and national traffics
Oral lessons, including examinations of legal cases, law texts and documents, and discussions with maritime operators.
The course introduces students to the knowledge of the basic items concerning the vessels’ utilization, including their safety and security, and maritime carriages of goods, through an analysis of the relevant national, international and E.C. laws and rules.
Particularly it is aim of the Course to consider in a critical way all the rules concerning: 1) safety, security and controls in tha navigation; 2) the maritime operators (including shipowners, shipmanagers, vessels' agents, brokers, forwarding agents, masters) 3) the most important Authorities (Maritime Authority, Port Autority, Callsification Societies etc.), 4) the sale and shipbuilding contracts, 5) the contracts for the utilization of commercial and pleasure ships, 6) the documents of the maritime carriages, 7) general average, 8) salvage at sea.
