OVERVIEW

The course tackles a thematic path through the centuries beginning with the era of geographical explorations and arriving at the Restoration. Students must have a good knowledge of general history between the ancient and the medieval period

LEARNING OUTCOMES

Analysing fundamental themes and issues of modern history by presenting different historiographical interpretations and perspectives. Illustrating historical research methods and procedures also by working with sources in order to stimulate a critical approach and an initial knowledge of criteria used to build historiographical discourses

As far as learning outcomes are concerned, the student, at the end of the course, will be able to understand a text of history and historiography of the modern age, discuss it and insert it into the current scientific debate. The student must also have developed disciplinary skills, as well as basic knowledge of the subject.

PREREQUISITES

To know how to read and communicate correctly in Italian. have acquired the basic historical knowledge of the secondary school. If necessary, be able to read a text in a foreign language of the European Union in addition to your mother tongue.

ASSESSMENT METHODS

The oral exam will examine one or more of the specific topics contained in the indicated texts. Students must illustrate these topics correctly and in an articulated fashion using appropriate lexicon and demonstrating a critical ability; students’ ability to establish meaningful connections with other themes tackled in the same text or treated during lectures will also be assessed
