It is also proposed to acquire knowledge relating to the main structural and functional characteristics of the different tissues with reference to their anatomical distribution. EXPECTED LEARNING RESULTS: At the end of the course, the student will be able to classify the different tissues on the basis of the knowledge acquired and related to the structural characteristics of the cellular and extracellular component. The student will also be able to describe the functional characteristics of the various tissues by relating them to their structure and anatomical location. TEACHING METHODS Frontal lessons in the classroom. It is possible that the method of conducting the lessons is changed due to emergency situations that prevent the performance of the lessons in attendance. In this case the lessons will be carried out through the Teams IT platform. SYLLABUS/CONTENT General organization of the human eukaryotic cell. Main structural and functional characteristics of the plasma membrane, of the cytosol, of the cytoplasmic organelles and of the nucleus. Elements of cell differentiation and histogenesis. Epithelial lining tissue: morpho-functional characteristics, classification and anatomical distribution. Glandular epithelial tissue: classification of the exocrine and endocrine glands and their anatomical distribution. Mesenchymal tissues: general characteristics; cells and extracellular matrix. Classification and morpho-functional characteristics of connective tissue proper and adipose tissue. Supportive connective tissues: cartilage tissue and bone tissue. Morpho-functional characteristics of the different types of cartilage and notes on their anatomical distribution. Notes on the morpho-functional characteristics of non-lamellar bone tissue. Main morpho-functional characteristics of the compact and spongy lamellar bone tissue; anatomical distribution. Outline of the ossification process. Trophic function connective tissue: blood and lymph. General characteristics of the blood. Plasma and corpuscular elements (erythrocytes, platelets and leukocytes). Leukocyte formula. Lymphoid tissue: morpho-functional organization of lymphoid tissue. Primary lymphoid organs (thymus and bone marrow) and secondary (lymph nodes, spleen and lymphoid tissue associated with mucous membranes). Muscle tissue: morpho-functional characteristics of striated (skeletal and cardiac) and smooth muscle tissue. Anatomical distribution. Nervous tissue: morpho-functional characteristics of the neuron and glial cells. Nerve fibers. Synapses. TEACHERS AND EXAM BOARD SIMONA SIVORI Ricevimento: Student reception by appointment, contact the teacher via e-mail: simona.sivori@unige.it LESSONS LESSONS START First semester Class schedule The timetable for this course is available here: Portale EasyAcademy EXAMS EXAM DESCRIPTION During the lessons, an on-going test is carried out to evaluate the level of acquisition of the first classroom-related contents and relating to cytology. The oral exam is aimed at assessing the learning of knowledge relating to the topics illustrated and discussed in the classroom and the ability to integrate and contextualise this knowledge. The exam takes place at an integrated course level. The assessment of learning for the specific teaching is done through x oral exam x multiple choice quizzes It is possible that emergency situations prevent the examination from taking place. In this case, the exam will be carried out in the same way but the Teams IT platform will be used. ASSESSMENT METHODS The chosen exam mode allows you to verify the acquisition of knowledge included in the training objectives The oral test which represents the exam modality used and relative to most of the program carried out allows to better evaluate how the student is oriented in the whole panorama of the tissues addressed in class, also allowing to evaluate his reasoning ability aimed at associate structural notions with functional concepts. It is possible that emergency situations prevent the examination from taking place. In this case, the exam will be carried out in the same way but the Teams IT platform will be used.
