OVERVIEW

The class "Laboratory of Materials Characterization"  consists of two modules, the first one on the physical field and the second one on the physico-chemical field. Both modules are devoted to the  instrumental methods useful for the structural, morphological, and compositional investigation of various types of materials.

AIMS AND CONTENT

LEARNING OUTCOMES

The class aims to provide the theoretical foundations and practical knowledge essential for the use of the various instrumental techniques typically employed for the characterization of different classes of materials.

PREREQUISITES

Basic knowledge of chemistry and physics is required.

EXAM DESCRIPTION

Students, in groups, will prepare reports on the experimental activities for each laboratory experience. They will also take an oral exam to assess the topics covered in class.

ASSESSMENT METHODS

The assessment consists of a discussion of the lab notebooks and reports, and an oral exam in which questions related to the topics covered during the lectures will be asked.
The quality of the presentation, the correct use of specialized vocabulary, and the ability to reason critically with respect to specific cases presented by the instructors will also be assessed.
