AIMS AND CONTENT

LEARNING OUTCOMES

The Course [ECGIS-65849] is composed by two separate parts. In the first one the main features of the OS Linux are presented with the use of the bash shell (interface between user and hardware) and of some tools to be used for environmental data processing, diagrams and maps production. The main goal is to enable the future professional to build multi-steps routines in different field (geology, geophysics and geochemistry). That part is preparatory to the second one devoted to Geographical Information System basics. In the second part the Geographical Information System (GIS) will be the main tool introduced to the audience with the aim to generate georeferenced database from data with different support other than digital. An extended final set of practical lessons (8/10 hours) allows the student to mastering GIS tool. The theory lessons will be supported by practical activity done with software OpenSource. The final examination due by each student through the solution of a home-work will shows the proficiency in the discipline of the Geographic Information Systems. It will be presented by a 10 slides .pdf documents.
