The teaching provides students with the basic knowledge of statistical methods for social sciences. Students can critically interpret the most important social statistical indicators produced by the National Statistical Institutes and replicate the calculation in new contexts. They can also generate new information by themselves by analysing online data and preparing short analytical reports describing various aspects of society such as economic inequality, deprivation, gender inequality, the labour market, or population ageing. Furthermore, the student can use statistical methods to approach the empirical evaluation of economic and social theories, conduct objective context analyses, and make decisions based on empirical evidence.
