In the thesis the topic is presented in the light of the state of the art, the activities carried out are described and the results obtained are critically discussed. AIMS AND CONTENT LEARNING OUTCOMES The master thesis consists of developing a monographic study, writing a final report, and in its public discussion. The thesis is independently developed by the student with original characteristics under one or more supervisors' guidance. It can have an experimental or theoretical nature and can be carried out at companies or external bodies, public or private. The thesis activity is an important moment in the student's development to apply knowledge and understand new problems, ranging from new technological developments to fundamental research themes typical of mechanical engineering (with particular reference to the energy and aeronautics sectors). AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES The thesis activity is an important moment in the student's development of: - ability to use sources and bibliography; - ability to apply knowledge and understand even new problems, ranging from technological development to research themes typical of mechanical engineering, with particular reference to the energy and aeronautics sectors; - systematic and argumentative skills and clarity of presentation; - critical ability. SYLLABUS/CONTENT The degree thesis can have an experimental, numerical or theoretical nature and can be carried out in companies or external bodies, public or private. EXAMS EXAM DESCRIPTION The procedures for carrying out the final exam consist in the oral presentation of the thesis by the student to the commission for the final exam, followed by a discussion on any questions asked by the members of the commission. The Commission for the final exam is composed of at least five members including the President and is appointed by the Director of the Department of Mechanical, Energy, Management and Transportation Engineering. ASSESSMENT METHODS The oral presentation of the thesis will allow to verify the achievement by the student of: - adequate preparation in the disciplines characterizing mechanical engineering, with particular reference to the energy and aeronautics sectors; - the correct use of sources and bibliography; - adequate systematic and argumentative skills; - clarity in the presentation; - critical ability.
