It consists of 54 annual hours of lectures. Fraction B is taught in Spanish and is intended for students of Languages who have an adequate level of understanding of Spanish. The participation of Language students in either the A (Italian) or B (Spanish) fraction will be at the student's discretion. AIMS AND CONTENT LEARNING OUTCOMES The teaching aims to illustrate salient moments of Spanish culture and literature from its origins to the 20th century in the light of general historical evolution. AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES The course aims to provide an overview of the main literary and cultural movements that swept through Spain between the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 21st century. In view of the very close links that political and literary history had in 20th-century Spain, part of the course will be devoted to an in-depth study of the main historical events of the period in question (Cuban War, Civil War, Franchism, Democratic Transition). PREREQUISITES The course, bibliography and examination will be entirely in Spanish. A good knowledge of the Spanish language is therefore required. TEACHING METHODS 54 hours of lectures spread over the course of the year. Attendance is not compulsory but strongly recommended. SYLLABUS/CONTENT -The Bourbon Restoration -The Cuban War -The Civil War and Francoism -The Democratic Transition -Panorama of Spanish literature from 1875 to the present day. Special space will be devoted to the development of the novel.
