AIMS AND CONTENT

AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES

The course aims to provide basic knowledge preparatory to the other subjects requiring mathematical methods and tools. The student must be able to study the graph of functions of one variable, and solve simple linear and separable variable differential equations.

TEACHING METHODS

Frontal lectures on the blackboard. Working students and students with certified SLD (Specific Learning Disorders), disability or other special educational needs are advised to contact the teacher at the beginning of the course to agree on teaching and examination arrangements so to take into account individual learning patterns, while respecting the teaching objectives.

SYLLABUS/CONTENT

Notion of function in one variable;

Notion of limit and calculation of simple limits;

Notion of the first derivative of a function;

Concept of maximum and minimum of a function in one variable;

Study of the graph of functions of one variable;

Notion of integral of a function in one variable and calculation of simple integrals;

Introduction to differential equations and their resolution, with specific reference to linear and separable variable equations.
