Acquire the basics of Pharmacokinetics: in particular, knowledge will be required about the mechanisms that regulate drug absorption, with particular regard to routes of administration; distribution, metabolism and elimination of drugs. Identify the characteristics of the main pharmaceutical forms related to the administration of therapy (oral, intramuscular, intravenous ....); to know the main essential pharmacokinetic parameters and their clinical significance; the main aspects of Pharmacodynamics, the concepts of tolerance, intolerance, therapeutic index and their clinical implication. Understand the glossary of drug package inserts and their interpretation. To know the use of the antibiotic classes used in the therapy of infectious diseases with special emphasis on appropriateness, clinical use, the evaluation of adverse reactions of antibiotics and antiviral and antifungal therapies (hints). Possess the basics of Drugs active on the N.S.
Introduce the student to calculations for drug administration. Know how to perform simple calculations for the correct dosage setting of drugs to be administered orally or parenterally; calculation exercises geared toward finding the correct dose of administration; use "household" units of measurement in calculation exercises.
Lectures are given with the help of images summarizing the topic that are made available to all students on Aulaweb. Special attention is given to the performance of computational exercises both for the student's self-assessment of his understanding of the subject matter and to provide him with practical guidance suitable for passing the final written examination.
Students with valid certifications for Specific Learning Disorders (SLD), disabilities or other educational needs are invited to contact the lecturer and the School/Department's disability liaison at the beginning of the course to agree on teaching methods that, while respecting the teaching objectives, take into account individual learning patterns.
