OVERVIEW

Landscape planning requires collaboration between experts of various disciplines; it is a tool to reconcile protection and development and initiate processes of use and reproduction of resources taking into account the potential of the territories and the expectations of the communities that inhabit them.

The project areas are areas that present problems but are rich in environmental and heritage values from which to take inspiration for innovative proposals for land management and landscape re-formation.

The collaboration between Urban Planning and Agronomy within the laboratory aims to train the student in the integration of knowledge through a design experience. The skills already acquired in carrying out analysis of a territory, representing critical issues and values, laying out and presenting proposals for promotion and development in a perspective of sustainability of the interventions will be refined and increased.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

The landscape architect must be able to insert himself in the planning processes with knowledge of the characteristics and potential of a territory to propose a development strategy consistent with the theoretical assumptions and design specificities of his discipline

PREREQUISITES

a) mastery of GIS software and ability in the use of software for graphic and cartographic processing (e.g. Photoshop), for data management (Excel), for the compilation of texts (Word);

b) basic notions of agronomy, botany and geology;

c) basic knowledge of planning tools (land, urban and landscape planning).

The program will be integrated with lessons related to points b) and c) in relation to the preparation of the students and taking into account their different curricula.

EXAMS

EXAM DESCRIPTION

Oral exam. It consists of the illustration of a project developed in a group. The presentation, to which each student will bring his or her own contribution, will be the starting point for a discussion that will concern the contents and aims of the project, its training process, its theoretical and cultural assumptions.

The exam includes the two modules of the laboratory. The evaluation, expressed in thirtieths, is established by consensus of the teachers

ASSESSMENT METHODS

During the presentation and discussion of the project, elaborated in a group, the individual student is evaluated with respect to the ability to:

• analyse a landscape, select and describe the tools and methods of analysis used, describe it in its main elements;

• illustrate the project carried out in its development;

• argue the choices of the project, demonstrate its sustainability and compliance with the objectives set.

The commitment and profit are evaluated taking into account the participation and contribution made by the student to the atelier work during the semester.
