OVERVIEW

Teaching Psychotherapy is an integrated course consisting of several disciplines.

Each discipline is a module, which is referred to for specific information.

AIMS AND CONTENT

LEARNING OUTCOMES

Know the main models of psychotherapy and their general principles of individual, family, and group psychotherapy. To know the adolescent dynamics and the integrated psychotherapeutic interventions to be activated in the adolescent psychological/psychiatric discomfort condition, psychotherapy in the severe psychiatric patient, especially in cases of comorbidity with personality disorder. Acquire the principles of psychodynamics and clinical psychotherapy and the main concepts related to psychodynamic psychotherapy, psychoanalysis and analytical psychotherapy.

PREREQUISITES

The student in order to adequately understand the contents of the course must:

  • to know the basic aspects of psychiatric psychopathology
  • to show the ability to understand the meaning of interpersonal relationships
  • to understand the role of the emotions of the internal world in relation to the outside world
  • to show the ability to reflect on relational dynamics
  • to have acquired an adequate capacity for reflection between the relationship between symptomatology and conflicting elements
  • to show willingness to consider the various psychological aspects underlying the symptomatological expressiveness

Any Student with documented Specific Learning Disorders (SLD), or with any special needs, shall reach out to the Lecturer(s) and to the dedicated SLD Representative in the Department before class begins, in order to liaise and arrange the specific teaching methods and ensure proper achievement of the learning aims and outcomes.
