AIMS AND CONTENT LEARNING OUTCOMES This course aims to equip students with tools and techniques essential for addressing the most relevant numerical problems in applied mathematics: on one hand the direct problem (given the cause of a phenomenon, to determine its effects) which is often modeled through partial differential equations (PDE), on the other hand the inverse problem (from the observation of the effects, to determine the quantities that cause them) which often does not verify the definition of well-posedness.
