OVERVIEW

The Physics and Physical Chemistry course is made up of two modules, each of 6 CFU; it is offered to first-year CTF students and it is aimed at providing basic knowledge of physics and physical chemistry.

The physics module aims to introduce the fundamental concepts of classical physics. Kinematics, mechanics, fluids, electromagnetism and optics.

The physical chemistry module introduces students to some of the fundamental topics of physical chemistry: classical thermodynamics and chemical kinetics.

AIMS AND CONTENT

PREREQUISITES

The following basic knowledge is necessary to effectively address the contents of the physics course: - basic mathematical notions (trigonometry, fundamental integrals, derivatives)

The following basic knowledge is necessary to effectively address the contents of the physical chemistry module:

- basic notions of mathematics (properties of powers, fundamental integrals, derivatives);

- general notions of physics (concepts of energy work; basic concepts of electrostatics);

- notions of general chemistry.

TEACHING METHODS

Any Student with documented Specific Learning Disorders (SLD), or with any special needs, shall reach out to the Lecturer(s) and to the dedicated SLD Representative in the Department ( Prof. Luca Raiteri, Luca.Raiteri@unige.it ) before class begins, in order to liaise and arrange the specific learning methods and ensure proper achievement of the learning aims and outcomes. VERY IMPORTANT: any request for compensatory tools and adaptations in the exam MUST be done within 10 working days before the date of the exam according to the instructions that can be found at https://unige.it/disabilita-dsa/comunicazioni
