AIMS AND CONTENT

LEARNING OUTCOMES

Operative comprehension of the integration between mechanics, measurement and automatic control, with specific reference to the topics of mechanical and control behaviour. To this aim, design, prototyping and experimental tests of a mechatronic device are performed

AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES

The course purpose is to introduce the student to mechatronic design and development including mechanics measurements and control. The course is based on lectures, to introduce methods and techniques, and experimentation. The main goal is the development of a mechatronics device that requires custom mechanics, designed and 3D printed also, custom electronics and control system programming. Final competences will be:

  • functional design of a mechatronics device with integration of mechanics measurements and control
  • programming of a complete control code for a mechatronic device including advanced systems such as RT systems and FPGA
  • detailed design of parts oriented to additive manufacturing
  • design of testing protocols and their application to the realized device, with critical evaluation of the results
  • management of the project development in team, organizing tasks, integration and deadlines (soft skills)

TEACHING METHODS

Lectures integrated with experimental activities in the Lab carried out in small students groups under instructor guide.

SYLLABUS/CONTENT
