After an introduction to physical quantities and units of measurement, elements of mechanics, electromagnetism, thermodynamics and fluidostatic will be covered. At the end of the teaching the student will acquire the ability to solve simple physics problems quantitatively. AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES The educational objectives of the teaching include: - acquire the basic concepts, principles and physical laws of classical physics; - acquire the ability to solve simple physics problems quantitatively. PREREQUISITES Knowledge of basic mathematics TEACHING METHODS Frontal lectures SYLLABUS/CONTENT Physical Quantities, Vectors, Kinematics, Dynamics, Work and Energy, Momentum and Collisions, Static Fluids, Coulomb's Law, Electric Field, Electric Potential, Current and Resistance, Circuits, Temperature and Heat, Principles of Thermodynamics, Kinetic Theory of Gases RECOMMENDED READING/BIBLIOGRAPHY - Gettys Fisica 1 - meccanica e termodinamica (Autore: Gianni Vannini) - Gettys Fisica 2 - elettromagnetismo e onde (Autore: Gianni Vannini) - Fisica 1 - (Autore: Giancoli; casa editrice Ambrosiana) Supporting material to frontal lectures will be available on the AulaWeb page of the course. TEACHERS AND EXAM BOARD PAOLO CANEPA Ricevimento: By appointment with the teacher, who can be contacted by e-mail at paolocanepa@unige.it LESSONS LESSONS START https://corsi.unige.it/corsi/11429/studenti-orario Class schedule The timetable for this course is available here: Portale EasyAcademy EXAMS EXAM DESCRIPTION The examination consists of a written test with multiple-choice tests and possible open questions. The examination is considered passed if the mark in the written test (Vf) is Vf >= 18. If the mark is lower than 18/30, the student must retake the written test at a later appeal. There are no partial examinations during the lecture period. ASSESSMENT METHODS The examination will cover the topics of the program covered during the teaching lectures and is designed to verify the achievement of the learning objectives. In the event that the learning objectives are not met, the student is invited to reinforce his or her knowledge by contacting the course lecturer. The examination is considered passed if the mark in the written test (Vf) is Vf >= 18. If the mark is lower than 18/30, the student must repeat the written test at a later appeal. There are no partial examinations during the lecture period. FURTHER INFORMATION Students who have valid certification of physical or learning disabilities on file with the University and who wish to discuss possible accommodations or other circumstances regarding lectures, coursework and exams, should speak both with the instructor and with Professor Federico Scarpa (federico.scarpa@unige.it ), the Polytechnic School's disability liaison.
