How it works

The procedure for verifying the entry requirements for the Master's degree in History is as follows:

  • whoever holds a Bachelor's degree in History (L-42), with a final mark of 104/110 or higher, will fulfil the entry requirements without the need for further verification and will be able to enrol automatically;
  • whoever holds a Bachelor's degree in History (L-42), with a final mark of less than 104/110, will be required to undergo an interview to verify the requirements (referee prof. Guido Borghi, guido.borghi@unige.it), after which they will be given the opportunity to complete their enrolment;
  • those with a Bachelor's degree not in History, but in other degree classes, should email the contact person prof. Davide Arecco (davide.arecco@unige.it), both the pdf of the pre-registration in Historical Sciences and all the documentation relating to the previous university career, in order to allow the verification of the presence of at least 60 CFU among the following sectors: M-STO/01, M-STO/02, M-STO/03, M-STO/04, M-STO/05, M-STO/08, M-STO/09, M-GGR/01, L-FIL-LET/08, L-FIL-LET/10, L-LIN/01, L-OR/01, L-OR/08, L-LIN/10, M-DEA/01, M-FIL/02, M-FIL/03, M-FIL/06, M-FIL/07, M-FIL/08, SECS-P/12, SPS/05.
         - in the event of a positive response, enrolment will be unblocked and it will be possible to complete the enrolment;
         - in the event of a negative response, a Bridging Career will be offered, for the achievement of the missing credits, with a view to subsequent enrolment (see below Bridging Career).

Bridge Career

If the admission requirements are not met, the student may still enrol in a Bridge Career prepared by the contact person (prof. Arecco) and activated by the Desk (studenti.uma@unige.it) to reach the total of 60 cfu required. In general, the procedure goes like this:

  1. student pre-registers as soon as possible, respecting the deadlines and starting the above-mentioned procedure for the verification of requirements;
  2. the contact person prepares the bridging career in pdf, sends it by email to the student requesting activation at the Desk;
  3. the student contacts the lecturers of the individual bridging career courses to define the programme and obtain other necessary information (e.g. indication of when to take the exam).
  4. after successfully completing the bridging career, the student communicates its conclusion by sending the supporting pdf to the Contact Person (prof. Arecco). Arecco), who proceeds to unblock the enrolment;
  5. the student then accesses the Master's degree by completing the enrolment.

The task of the Referees (prof. Arecco and prof. Borghi) is limited to the verification of requirements and to the preparation of eventual bridging careers; they are not responsible for information and support on timing, deadlines, fees, eventual extras etc.

RECOGNITION OF CFUs FROM PREVIOUS CAREER

Within 15 days from the completion of enrolment, if possible immediately afterwards, the student may submit an online application for the recognition of CFUs deriving from a previous degree (if, in addition to the Bachelor's degree of origin, he already holds another Master's degree), uploading documentation relating to his previous career (previous Master's degrees or old four-year degrees are taken into consideration in this case).
The assessment is carried out by a special Commission coordinated by a contact person (prof. Marco Natalizi).
