Research training course

An opportunity for the best students

The Research Training Course (PFR) is aimed at enhancing the training of students who are interested in in-depth activities in the field of research.

During the PFR you will develop the ability to design, set up and carry out an autonomous project, consolidating the necessary transversal skills:

  • scientific rigour,
  • methodology,
  • analytical ability,
  • critical ability,

in order to practise the correct approach to the problems of historiographical research.

The course aims to encourage autonomy of judgement, scientific creativity, and the ability to focus on and communicate expected results.

At the end of the PFR you will receive the Diploma Supplement  as a certification of your work.

Projects

For the academic year 2024/25, the proposed projects are the following:

  1. Christianities, Nationalisms, Racisms: For a History of Religious Cultures in the Contemporary Age
    Teacher proposer and tutor: Matteo Caponi.

  2. Family, heritages and gender in the late Middle Ages (12th-15th centuries)
    Lecturer and tutor: Denise Bezzina.

  3. Sources and Topics for Medieval History and Mediterranean History in the Middle Ages
    Teacher proposer and tutor: Francesca Pucci Donati.

  4. Memory as an object of historical investigation
    Lecturer and tutor: Guri Schwarz.

  5. Themes and Problems of Mediterranean History through the Sources of the Modern Age
    Lecturers and tutors: Emiliano Beri and Paolo Calcagno.

How to participate

To participate in the Research Training Course you must send an application by 15 June 2025, to the email address of Prof. Fulvia Zega, fulvia.zega@unige.it, with the subject: "Application for the Historical Sciences RFP".

Remember to indicate which of the proposed research projects you have chosen.

The maximum number of candidates admitted to the Research Training Pathway for the academic year 2024/2025 is 6 (six).

Selezione e pubblicazione della graduatoria

Per valutare la tua idoneità è previsto un colloquio con un'apposita Commissione.

Durante il colloquio dovrai:

  • discutere le tematiche pertinenti all’ambito di ricerca del progetto scelto;

  • illustrare le tue motivazioni a partecipare al programma PFR;

  • leggere e tradurre una parte di una pubblicazione scientifica in lingua inglese (o in un’altra lingua eventualmente prevista dal progetto scelto).

Il colloquio di idoneità si svolgerà online il 20 giugno 2025, a partire dalle ore 9:30. Il codice di accesso TEAMS verrà comunicato per email agli/alle ammessi/e al colloquio.

Successivamente la Commissione stilerà una graduatoria di merito che verrà pubblicata entro il 23 giugno 2025, sulla pagina dedicata al “Percorso di formazione alla ricerca” del sito web istituzionale del CdS.
