    Spanish 1 (9 ECTS) consists of Spanish language lessons, with practice of the four language skills (called Lettorato) taught in Semester 1 and 2, and a Theoretical Module (taught in Semester 1). There are 3 Lettorato groups, divided up according to the students' surname initials (A-D, E-O and P-Z) and 2 Theoretical Module groups (A-K for "Frazionamento A" group and L-Z for "Frazionamento B" group). 

    Spanish (6 CFU) only consists of Spanish language lessons (Lettorato).

    AIMS AND CONTENT

    LEARNING OUTCOMES

    Spanish 1 provides a theoretical-practical introduction to Spanish Phonology and Morphology, while providing B1 linguistic skills. 

    LEARNING OUTCOMES (FURTHER INFO)

    The Theoretical Module introduces the basic notions of Spanish Phonetics/Phonology, Lexical Morphology and Lexicology under a contrastive perspective, taking into account language variation in Spanish-speaking countries. The Lettorato module aimes at the attainment of the B1 CEFR level in Spanish.

    For the Theoretical Module:

    - Basic concepts of Phonetics and Phonology

    - Spanish vowels and consonants

    - Basic concepts of Lexical Morphology and Lexicology

    - Flexion

    - Derivation

    - Composition

    - Acronyms and abbreviations

    For Lettorato:

    CEFR B1 level descriptors.

    RECOMMENDED READING/BIBLIOGRAPHY

    The Theoretical Module materials will be uploaded to the AulaWeb portal when the course begins. The list of bibliographical references for Lettorato will be published at the beginning of the academic year.

    EXAM DESCRIPTION

    A written test for the Theoretical Module and a written and oral test for Lettorato.

    ASSESSMENT METHODS

    Theoretical module: the written test consists of three parts: the first part  contains true or false and closed ended questions assessing familiarity with the basic concepts of the module; the second part contains open ended questions on the application of theory to linguistic analysis; the third part assesses the self-study of the texts included in the bibliography with open ended questions requiring longer answers.

    Lettorato: the written test assesses B1 CEFR skills by means of exercises and a composition. The oral part assesses B1 CEFR oral skills and familiarity with the course cultural contents.
