History of philosophy is a discipline with a long tradition in Italy. It is based on a critical-philological method and it studies the major philosophical traditions and their specific problems, providing a thorough contextualization.
Having a solid, direct knowledge of major classics of the history of philosophy through a critical approach to the most important texts (an approach that focuses on contexts, on conceptual systems and on argumentative strategies of texts).

Oral exam The exam is meant to assess students' grasp of the topics covered by the course and their ability to link topics with the relevant historical and cultural contexts. The exam will also assess students' use of philosophical terminology in relation to authors and texts and students' ability to build effective arguments
