The teaching proposes a reflection on archives intended as a material trace of administrative activity, as a direct source for knowledge of the past and as a tool for the protection of rights and for the organization of society.
The teaching aims to offer a complete framework on the formation, organization and conservation of archives, both analogue and digital, as well as on the development of finding aids to ensure their use.The teaching aims to offer a complete framework on the formation, organization and conservation of archives, both analogue and digital, as well as on the development of finding aids to ensure their use.
The teaching of general and digital Archiving aims to provide students with the basic coordinates on the methods of training, management, conservation of documentary complexes produced by public or private subjects, with particular reference to the forms of organization and sedimentation of documents from the Middle Ages to our days. The last 20 hours of lessons, dedicated only to students who have to take the 9 CFU exam, will focus in particular on the impact that digital information and communication technologies have had and will have on contemporary archives.
The lessons will be held in person.
There will also be moments of self-assessment aimed at the timely identification of the issues for which to reserve moments of study.

Students who regularly attend lessons can agree on an alternative program; those who find it difficult to obtain the texts will be able to contact the teacher to identify others accessible in digital format.
For those who take the exam for 6 CFU the following are excluded:

The exam takes place orally.
The oral exam will focus on the topics addressed in class and covered by the bibliography. The assessment of the level of preparation of the candidates will take into account the effective mastery of the basic notions of the discipline as well as the ability to critically re-elaborate the themes and problems faced in class.
For students unable to attend classes, the exam will focus exclusively on the bibliography.
