OVERVIEW

The Integrated Course of Kinesiology, Biomechanics and General Rehabilitation includes six disciplinary modules: two (Biomechanics, general rehabilitation) in the first semester of the first year, the other four in the second semester of the first year (see Table) .:

AIMS AND CONTENT

AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES

The course aims to develop the student's knowledge of the structure and function of the human body, its systems and apparatuses, with particular attention to the morpho-functional aspects of the musculoskeletal system; to develop in the student the knowledge of the morphology of the bones, muscles and joints of the human body, of their reciprocal relationships and their function; of joint biomechanics and kinesiology. The student must be able to use in an appropriate way the terms that identify the reference planes and the kinesiological parameters that describe the movement. The course also aims to develop the student's knowledge of the human body through inspection anatomy techniques; the student will have to understand the kinesiological evaluation of all the joints of the human body and of all the muscles that activate them (agonists, antagonists, and synergists); know the theoretical bases and know how to implement the practical approach to massage therapy.

The student will also have to acquire an introductory basis to the assessment by learning to recognize the various factors that favor and / or hinder observation in the rehabilitation field.

The aim is also to help understand the epistemological model and the hermeneutic basis of rehabilitation. The teaching, starting from the historical evolution of rehabilitation, aims to develop in the student the knowledge of the professional figure of the physiotherapist, of the general physiotherapy and rehabilitation process according to national and international guidelines, from the point of view of both the specific clinical assistance aspects and of relationship with the person. Finally, the course aims to develop in the student, using the kinesiological and muscular examination, the ability to evaluate the muscles and joints of the human body, their mutual relationships and their function.

 The student must understand the main effects of training and the factors that influence it as well as the aspects of posture control and be able to perform the kinesiological examination (joint and muscle) of all districts.

PREREQUISITES

Basic knowledge acquired with the frequency of the lessons of the courses included in the study plan.
The study plan is structured so as to allow a gradual acquisition of knowledge and skills in the main subjects under study.

TEACHING METHODS

Lectures, simulations, theoretical-practical exercises :

Students will also have the opportunity to attend laboratories and didactic spaces to implement movement analysis in order to closely understand the potential of appropriate experimental tools and protocols to define useful indices for the diagnostic and prognostic evaluation of the patient, of the main points of anatomical landmarks, carry out exercises on joint and muscle assessment and become operators and subjects themselves.

The lectures will be held in the 4 locations of the Degree Course by the respective appointed teachers. The Student / Teacher numerical ratio allows a direct comparison between teacher and learner and the possibility of using collaborative teaching methodologies

Students with SLD, disability or other special educational needs certification are strongly encouraged to contact the teachers at the beginning of the course to agree on teaching methods which, respecting the teaching objectives, take into account individual learning methods and provide suitable compensatory instrument

 

SYLLABUS/CONTENT

At the end the student must be able to:

Accurately describe the movement of the joint segments of the human body using the appropriate vocabulary.

Acquire fundamental notions on joint mechanics and the forces acting on it.

Acquire elements of basic kinesiology to understand the main motor functions of man and the skills necessary for kinesiological assessment.

Knowing how to analyze posture, postural passages and functional activities.

Knowing the developmental psychomotor stages of the child from 0 to 3 years.

Knowing the motor skills and spontaneous communication of the normal child.

Understand the use of technological tools in relation to posture, walking and functional assessments.

Knowing how to perform basic massage therapy and kinesitherapy maneuvers.

Know the specific skills of the physiotherapist profession and the meaning of rehabilitation and ICF.

EXAMS

EXAM DESCRIPTION

The exam is oral. The grade will be mediated with the evaluations obtained in the other disciplines of the I.C. (Integrated Course)

Exam sessions will be available for the winter session * (January - February) and for the summer session (June, July and September).

ASSESSMENT METHODS

It includes at least 2 questions asked by the teachers in charge of teaching

It will be aimed at evaluating an appropriate knowledge of the topics covered in module e

however on all those specified in the program

Students with SLD or with other regularly certified special educational needs will be able to agree with the teacher the written or oral modality, by contacting the teachers at least 10 days before the exam. They can also take advantage of 30% additional time

In the case of a student with a certified SLD, it is necessary to contact the Referent Professor of the DISABILITY and SLD Commission for DINOGMI: Prof. N. Girtler (nicolagirtler@unige.it) who, after evaluating the individual case, will send the teachers the necessary information both for the development of the lessons and the way in which the exam is carried out.
