Admission criteria and procedure

You can apply for admission if you have either:

You can access this course only if you have obtained a degree or an equivalent qualification (bachelor's degree, a direct school for special purposes - 3 years), if you meet the curricular requirements and if you successfully pass the Prerequisites assessment.

CV requirements

In order to attend this course the student needs the following requirements, without any exclusion:

  • Degree (Laurea), M.Sc. (Laurea Magistrale), referred to D.M. 509/1999 or D.M. 270/2004, or a five-year degree (ante Ministerial Decree 509/1999) in Information Engineering or Computer Science or Industrial Engineering
  • adequate knowledge in:
    • mathematical analysis, geometry, physics, mathematical physics
    • electronics
    • Informatics
    • automatic
    • mechanics
    • telecommunications
    • sensor and actuator technologies
  • English-language B2 certificate, not older than 3 years like TOEFL, Cambridge Advanced English Test, IELTS, TOEIC. This document is not required if the language of instruction of your studies is in English and this is certified by an official document or letter from the University. If you should not have any English Certificate, you can enroll in the English Language B2 assessment test, offered by the University. For more information: https://scuolapolitecnica.unige.it/node/642)
  • in accordance with the national legislation, students who at the moment of the admission do not have a sufficient written and oral knowledge of the Italian language, must take at least one of the two courses of Italian Language for foreign students scheduled in the current program table

2. Register and pre-register

To enroll in this course of study, you must go through the online process that includes registration and pre-registration (for more information you can watch theTUTORIAL).

UniGe Portal Registration

If you have never been enrolled at the University of Genoa, access the UniGe Portal and get your UniGePASS credentials (for more information you can watch the TUTORIAL).

Pre-registration

Make apply for pre-registration using the UniGePASS credentials you received with your registration.

Deadlines

  • applications by students with a non-EU degree: March 2024
  • applications by students with EU-based and Italy-based degree: 7th January 2025
  • for all students who have been accepted, the last deadline for the enrollment to UniGe is fixed on 10th January 2025

Admissions – Enrollment - Course change

You have to submit following documents:

  1. CV with Identity photo
  2. Academic degree and transcripts of all university studies with translation into English, i.e. Bachelor, Master or equivalent. If the degree has not to be obtained yet, a certificate from the institution indicating the situation of the student and the expected date of graduation must be provided
  3. Motivation letter . You must use the provided template
  4. Recognized International English test Certificate, not older than 3 years, at least a CEFR/QCER B2-level. Only TOEFL, Cambridge Advanced English Test, IELTS or TOEIC are recognized. This document is not required if the language of instruction of your studies is in English. The fact must be certified by an official document or letter from the University. In that case, submitting an English Test Certificate is not compulsory, but can add value to your application. Yes, you can be admitted, but in order to be in line with the Italian legislation, you should add to your study plan at least one of the two courses of Italian Language for foreign students scheduled in the current programme table.

Yes. The deadline for sumbitting the English certificate – as well as for the other requested documents – is January 8th. Upon submission and positive evaluation of all requested documents, the deadline for confirming the enrollement is January 11th

JEMARO and EMARO

You’ll find all information about how to apply and the deadlines on the JEMARO website

Starting from the academic year 2019-20, all students can apply only for the national tracks. For students enrolled in Robotics Engineering, at the end of the first year it is possible to apply to become an EMARO student, with mandatory second year mobility to a Consortium partner.

Becoming an EMARO student, the student will have to pay the EMARO tuition fees, accept EMARO rules, and will get a double degree.

A limited number of positions are available (less than 5 each year) and students will be selected on the basis of performance, average grading, etc.

M1 students shall pay the tuition fees applicable at the M1 Hosting institution and M2 students shall pay the EMARO tuition fees, which will be defined each year.

UniGe the annual tuition fees and taxes range from 136€ to 3.000€, depending on the family income. Tuition waivers are offered to students who achieved significant academic merits. The average tuition fees paid by international students enrolled at UniGe is about € 350 per year.

English certificates

Yes, a recognized International English Certificate of Level B2, not older than 3 years, is required. TOEFL, IELTS, CAE or TOEIC are accepted and no other test is recognized.
