Admission criteria and procedure

1. Admission requirements

The Master's Degree in Maritime Port Economics and Management (EMMP) is available for free access.

Admission to the Course is subject to:

  • achievement of a bachelor's degree
  • a three-year university degree
  • four-year college degree
  • any other degree awarded abroad and recognized as suitable

If you graduated abroad follow the apposite application procedure for foreign students with the support of the Welcome Office and subsequently support the Italian language test and the Assessment of Adequacy of Personal Readiness.

Verification of curricular requirements

In order to enroll in the EMMP Course, in your previous course of study you must have acquired at least:

  • 18 CFU among SECS-P/07, SECS-P/08 and SECS-P/10 including at least 6 CFU SECS-P/07 and at least 6 CFU SECS-P/08
  • 6 CFU among SECS-P/01, SECS-P/02 and SECS-P/06
  • 9 CFU among SECS-S/01, MAT/06, SECS-S/03, SECS-S/06, MAT/01-05
  • 6 CFU SSD MAT/09
  • 6 CFU SSD IUS/06

They are also considered curriculum requirements:

  • an adequate knowledge of the English language in oral and written comprehension and communication at least a B1 level;
  • the ability to use computer tools and software for economic and business applications.

► Exemptions

You meet the above requirements and therefore, unless exempted, you can directly access the verification of the adequacy of your personal preparation if you are a three-year graduate in Maritime, Logistics and Transport Economics and Business, L-18, and in Maritime Science and Technology, L-28, curriculum deck officer, of the University of Genoa.

You may then proceed to step 2 to proceed with registration and pre-registration.

In all other cases you must apply for verification of curricular requirements as explained below.

► Mode of application

Assessment of possession of curricular requirements must be requested by filling out the appropriate application for assessment to be sent to the Student Desk at the email: valutazionedeirequisiti@economia.unige.it.

► Verification outcomes

The confirmation of curriculum requirements will be sent to you via email, usually within a month after the application is submitted.

Verification may have one of the following outcomes:

  • possession of all necessary curricular requirements stated above: go to point 2 to proceed with registration and pre-registration
  • missing curricular requirements: go to point 2 to proceed with registration and pre-registration, but first read carefully the following informations regarding the recovery of missing requirements.

Recovery of missing requirements

Following the result of the verification you can acquire the missing CFU through the so-called "carriera ponte". See the web page Enrolling in individual training activities, particularly the section Enrolment in individual educational activities aimed at admission to Master's degree courses (so-called "bridging career").

We recommend that you contact the professor responsible for the individual training activities and, for any questions of a more general nature, the Coordinator by e.mail at coordinatore.emmp@unige.it.

If you are not able to demonstrate knowledge of the English language at least level B1 through a certificate of passing examinations or university aptitude tests or certificates recognized at European or international level, you can achieve this level by enrolling in the English language course offered in the undergraduate degree programs of the Department of Economics and by passing the corresponding exam.

The ability to use IT tools and software for economic and business applications is considered acquired if, during your previous university studies, you passed an 'IT proficiency' exam or an equivalent course, or if you hold an ICDL (International Certification of Digital Literacy) or an equivalent certification. If you do not possess the required IT skills, you may acquire them by enrolling in the IT course included in the study plan of the undergraduate degree programs of the Department of Economics and by passing the corresponding exam.

2. Register and pre-register

To register, you need to go through the online procedure, which includes registration and pre-registration (see the TUTORIAL).

UniGe Portal Registration

If you have never been enrolled at the University of Genoa, access the UniGe Portal and obtain your UniGePASS credentials.

Pre-registration

Make apply for pre-registration using the UniGePASS credentials received with your registration.

You can apply for pre-enrolment even if you have yet to graduate or, if you are a graduate, even before applying for verification of the curricular requirements or before receiving the outcome of the same.

3. Verification of adequacy of Personal Readiness

Once pre-registered in EMMP:

  • if you are a graduate with an Italian degree with a grade greater than or equal to 99/110, you can confirm your enrolment by going to step no. 4;
  • .
  • if you are a graduate with an Italian degree with a grade lower than 99/110 before confirming your enrolment, you must pass the personal preparation test
  • .
  • if you are a non-EU graduate applying for a visa with a foreign degree obtained with any grade you must pass the personal background check
  • before confirming your application.

N.B.: remember that if you have any outstanding curricular requirements you can only take the personal background check after completing your bridging career.
