Admission criteria and procedure

1. Registration on Universitaly

All applicants must:

When compiling:

  • you choose the degree class and the university hosting the semester filter.
  • You indicate at least 10 preferred locations to continue the course in case of admission.
  • You select a second related course.
  • You indicate at least 10 preferred locations even for the second course.

2. Enrolment at the University of Genoa

After registering on Universitaly each candidate must also register,by the same deadline for the closure of the Universitaly portal (5pm on 25 July 2025), on UniGe. The steps are:

  1. Log in to the Portale UniGe (if you have never been enrolled at the University of Genoa) and obtain your UniGePASS credentials.
  2. Use the credentials you received during registration and fill in the pre-registration application for the filter semester. (Select "Closed-numbered courses" and tick FILTER SEMESTER in MEDICINE AND SURGERY (6 years - GE) ORDONTOIATRY AND DENTAL PROTESIS (6 years - GE).
  3. Confirm your enrolment in the chosen course of study.
  4. Pay the flat-rate contribution, calculated on the basis of the ISEE-U, for a maximum amount of 250 euros, without prejudice to the cases of total or partial exemption provided for by the regulations in force on university fees. The receipt of payment must be kept.
    If you have the ISEE-U certificate, you can self-certify the details of the same even after you have completed pre-enrolment, pending confirmation of enrolment, by accessing the link https://servizionline.unige.it/studenti/iseeu by 5pm on 25 July 2025.
    Please note that at least 5 working days are required for the acquisition of the income data and the recalculation of the flat-rate contribution.

N.B. the confirmation of the registration (point 3) and the subsequent payment of the due contribution (point 4) will be possible from 15 July 2025.

What to know

Lectures begin on 1 September 2025. 
National examinations will be held on:

  • 20 November 2025 (first call)
  • 10 December 2025 (second call)

The compulsory subjects are (6 CFU each):

Each test has 31 questions. The correction is carried out by CINECA. 
The marks awarded are:

  • +1 per correct answer
  • - 0.25 per error
  • 0 if not answered.

3. Publication of rankings

At 4.00 p.m. on 8 January 2026, the national merit rankings - divided into nine sections - for the single-cycle degree courses in Medicine and Surgery (LM-41) and Dentistry and Dental Prosthetics (LM-46) are published in the reserved area of the CINECA Universitaly portal: https://www.universitaly.it/medicina2025
The operation of the rankings, deadlines and procedures, both for Medicine and Surgery/Dentistry and Dental Prosthetics courses and for related courses are indicated in the new Ministerial Decree 1115 of 22 December 2025.

Admitted students must proceed with enrolment on the UNIGE website from the services online:
by the deadline indicated from time to time.
Students who do not enrol by the prescribed deadline forfeit their right to enrol in the single-cycle degree course in Medicine and Surgery or Dentistry and Dental Prosthetics, without prejudice to the possibility for the student to enrol and continue their studies in one of the related courses.

The ranking resulting from the foreseen shortlisting will be published on the reserved site on 28 January 2026.
For related courses, the nominative merit list relating to related courses pursuant to article 8 of Ministerial Decree no. 418 of 2025 will be published on 28 January 2026 in the reserved area of the CINECA portal Universitaly

Admitted students must proceed with enrolment on the UNIGE site from serviceline:
within the deadline indicated from time to time.

Students who fail to enrol within the prescribed time limit will forfeit the possibility of enrolling in the related course of their choice.

Students who do not enrol in the single-cycle master's degree courses in Medicine and Surgery (LM-41), Dentistry and Dental Prosthetics (LM-46), or in the related courses referred to in article 8 of Ministerial Decree no. 418 of 2025 as a result of the foreseen downgrading will be published on the reserved site on 23 February 2026.

Students who do not enrol in the single-cycle master's degree courses in Medicine and Surgery (LM-41), Dentistry and Dental Prosthetics (LM-46), or in the related courses referred to in article 8 of Ministerial Decree no. 418 of 2025 will be disqualified.M. no. 418/2025, may enrol on another course of study, pursuant to Article 7, paragraph 3, of M.D. no. 418 of 2025, even after the deadlines set out by the university's didactic regulations,by 6 March 2026.

4. Fee indications for students after the filter semester

Following are the main indications on student fees for enrolment in Medicine and Dentistry courses, related and unrelated courses, following the filter semester, with particular reference to deadlines and facilitations.

STUDENT CONTRIBUTION

  • Medicine or Dentistry students
    Medicine or Dentistry students, after having attended the filter semester at Unige or another University, must pay the second instalment by 23 March 2026, unless they fall into one of the cases of total exemption from payment of the university fee (second and third instalments) indicated on the dedicated web page (https://courses.unige.it/info/students-exemptions); after this deadline, the penalties provided for by the ordinary provisions apply.
    The amount paid for attendance of the filter semester, regardless of the University at which it was held, will be automatically credited to the student's virtual current account and used to reduce the amounts of subsequent instalments; in the absence of instalments to be paid for the current academic year (https://corsi.unige.it/info/studenti-esenzioni) it will be possible to request reimbursement.

    The crediting of the virtual current account, in the absence of further instalments to be paid for the current academic year, is not envisaged for students who attended the filter semester at another University.

  • Students enrolled in a related course
    Students enrolled in a related course, after having attended the filter semester at Unige or another University must pay the second instalment by 23 March 2026, unless they fall into one of the cases of total exemption from payment of the university fee (second and third instalments) indicated on the dedicated web page (https://courses.unige.it/info/studenti-esenzioni); after this deadline, the penalties envisaged by the ordinary provisions shall apply.
    In addition, an automatic reduction of 50% of the university contribution (third instalment of the student contribution exemption) is envisaged, if the student does not fall within the cases of total exemption indicated on the dedicated web page (https://corsi.unige.it/info/studenti-esenzioni).

  • Students enrolled on a non-related course
    Students enrolled on a non-related course, after having attended the filter semester at Unige or another University must pay the second instalment by 23 March 2026, unless they fall into one of the cases of total exemption from payment of the university fee (second and third instalments) indicated on the dedicated web page (https://courses.unige.it/info/students-exemptions); after this deadline, the penalties provided for by the ordinary provisions apply.

ISEE-U

ISEE-U
Students who have already submitted the ISEE-U for the filter semester at Unige do not have to submit it again: the data will be automatically transferred to the new matriculation number.

Students who have not submitted it or who come from another university can self-certify it by 23 March 2026 without penalty; thereafter, they can self-certify it by 15 June 2026 with penalty, according to the ordinary procedures..
