The course in brief

Presentation

The course trains professionals to contribute to technological innovation in the multiple application fields of electronics. Solid basic skills, versatility and multidisciplinarity are the main components of the training course, which is organized according to two orientations:

  • Electronic Systems, focusing on electronic circuit and system design
  • Pervasive Intelligence, focused on hardware/software integration in electronic systems.

Learning by doing

For the development of innovative and efficient technological solutions, the electrical engineer is constantly called upon to exploit his skills in concrete applications, devising problem-solving strategies. For this reason, in both orientations, a significant proportion of hours are devoted to practical and laboratory experiences, so that the student can experience the theoretical knowledge acquired in the field.

Contents

Electronic systems represent the core element of all innovative applications. An excellent example is autonomous or semi-autonomous machines such as drones, robots, and automobiles. These machines are able to sense, explore, and manipulate the world around them. Here the electronic system performs two basic tasks: processing data to solve complex problems and interacting with the outside world through sensors, actuators and communication systems. In this and many other scenarios, the role of the electronics engineer is crucial to design and develop new generations of electronic systems and related hardware/software technologies to support increasingly advanced applications (IoT, wearables, cyber-physical systems, cybersecurity, ...).

The Degree Course is therefore structured to provide not only solid theoretical foundations, but also the ability to move in interdisciplinary contexts and the ability to develop original solutions in the face of evolving application domains. The contents are geared toward training graduates who can mature skills for the analysis, design and implementation of:

  • digital and analog circuits
  • integrated electronic sensor systems
  • intelligent algorithms based on machine learning
  • radiofrequency and microwave devices, sensors, and systems
  • software modules for devices with high computational efficiency
  • methods and technologies for data transmission and protection

The presence of two orientations provides the student with the opportunity to customize the curriculum to accrue more oriented skills:

  • to the design of electronic devices - Electronic Systems
  • .
  • to the development of algorithms and software models for electronic systems - Pervasive Intelligence
