Traineeship

What is

Internship, or internship, is a period of orientation and training, carried out in a public or private work setting to facilitate your entry into the world of work.

The curricular internship

The curricular internship consists of a period of training carried out in a company, entity or institution, which allows you to complete and supplement your university course:

  • has an educational purpose, in that it allows you to deepen, verify and expand on the learning received during your studies
  • has an orientation purpose, in that it allows you to enter the world of work, to know internally the business reality and the organizational/work dynamics and to assume greater awareness in your professional choices
  • does not take the form of an employment relationship
  • must be included in the study plan

The internship is mandatory, read the study plan and check the CFUs to be acquired and the corresponding hours.

Remember that:

  • the internship corresponds to 10 credits (about 250 hours of work) and has a duration of at least 2 months
  • you can do it after acquiring all the CFUs of the educational activities (excluding the final test) except at most 10 CFUs
  • you will do the internship under the direction of a teacher or an external person indicated by the Board of Studies and a company tutor.
  • the internship has no grade but an evaluation (positive or negative). A positive evaluation results in the addition of one point (out of 110) to the final graduation grade
  • you must produce a well-written report of about 8 pages, including graphs and tables, and make an oral presentation of the work you have done (e.g., the statistical/mathematical/informatics methodology used, and the new knowledge acquired)

N.B.

  • you must send the report to the contact person of the written internship committee at least 5 days before the oral presentation
  • the oral presentation must be between 15 and 20 minutes

The evaluation takes into account the report of the company mentor (written in case he/she cannot attend the presentation).

They say about us

Companies highly value the high level of skills, including directly applicable skills, of SMID trainees, their autonomy, and their speed in learning new work tools.

This indicates that the training offered and the skills provided adequately meet the needs of the world of work.

For some students, these contacts result in work experience after graduation.
