Alessandro Poggi

Area: cellular immunology.

In the UOSD, the tumor microenvironment (mesenchymal stromal cells, tumor cells, and leukocytes) is studied to identify the molecular mechanisms that lead to the onset of neoplasms and tumor progression and to use the information obtained in preclinical chemoprevention and therapy studies. The neoplasms being analyzed are colorectal cancer, prostate cancer, Hodgkin's and non-Hodgkin's lymphomas, chronic lymphatic leukemias (CLLs), and acute myeloid leukemias (AMLs).

The candidates will be trained in the molecular mechanisms of cancer progression and cancer prevention.

Candidates will acquire the ability to use various instrumentation for conventional, confocal and time laspse microscopic analysis and advanced image analysis programs, as well as basic knowledge of cell culture.
