Bridge careers

Scope

Students non completely fulfilling the minimum entry requirements (based on their previous bachelor’s degree) could be asked for passing additional exams (Bridge Career, BC) before being successfully enrolled in Energy Engineering. Such exams are a necessary requirement for enrolling, and for this reason they have to be passed in due time (i.e. within March of the first academic year).

The exams belong to the following classes, pertaining to other MSc or BSc courses:

  1. Applied Thermodynamics and Heat Transfer (Fisica Tecnica, code 108756, 6 ECTS)
  2. Applied Mathematics (Elementi di Matematica per l’ingegneria, code 84425, 6 ECTS)
  3. Fluid Machines (Macchine, code 80377, 6 ECTS)
  4. Electric systems (Sistemi elettrici per l’energia code 66309, 6 ECTS)
  5. Applied chemistry (Processi della chimica Industriale inorganica, code 90658, 6 ECTS)

Exams are oral and/or written, in English.

When

Academic year 2024-2025: exam sessions for bridge career will be scheduled from December 23, 2024 to February 14, 2025. Additional dates may be also available, for example during the stop of the teaching activities at the mid of October or at the end of the tutoring activities for Electric Systems (first half of December).

Tutoring activities

Online lectures on Electric Systems for BC requirements are offered in academic year 2024/2025, starting in  September 2024 (see information below).

Tutoring activities for Applied Thermodynamics and Fluid Machines will be also offered to support students in their preparation of the bridge career exams. Details will be given in this page as soon as they will be available.

Teams platform is used: to access Teams, you have to register to Office 365, following these instructions.

ELECTRIC SYSTEMS

The bridge career course of Electric Systems will start on September 20th 2024 at 9am (Italian time). Each lesson will last 3 hours.
The code to access the Team is 016pf8u.

The final exam will be composed of 2 exercises to be solved in two hours, for which you will receive all examples and the related necessary theory during the scheduled lessons.
Additionally, further titles of free books will be provided.

The bridge career course of Electric Systems is composed of 10 online lessons. During the first online lesson, we will discuss whether lessons will be online or in hybrid mode (some students in class and the screen shared with online students.

The course consists of:

  • 5 lessons involving the theoretical elements of Electric systems. The related slides will be uploaded in the Team.
  • 5 lessons involving exercises, which will be preparatory to the final exam. Exercises will be presented only during the online lessons, thus, to be prepared for the final exams, it is important to join the lessons during the scheduled timings.

The final exam will be composed of 2 exercises to be solved in two hours, for which students will receive all examples and the related necessary theory during the scheduled lessons.

Additionally, further titles of free books will be provided.
