FAQ Courses - Plan of study In the syllabus, I have noticed that exam X is offered in the first semester. Will it be offered also in the second semester? No, it doesn’t. I am an international student and I don’t have any previous certified knowledge of the Italian language, should I add to my study plan the course “Italian Language for foreign students”? Yes, you must take at least one of the two scheduled courses (Italian language for foreign students brief – 4 ECTS – or long – 5 ECTS). I am an Erasmus student who will spend one or more semesters at the University of Genoa. I have noticed that the MSc in Robotics Engineering offers a course entitled “Italian Language for Foreign Students – Brief/Long". Can I take it? The course is specific to students enrolled in the program. If in your Learning Agreement you decided to include exclusively courses offered by Robotics Engineering, then we can accept you, otherwise you can select and attend Italian Language courses offered specifically for Erasmus students by the University of Genoa. Is it possible to make some changes in my study plan, once submitted? Yes, upon submission and approval by the Coordinator and the Teaching Office. Be sure to ascertain whether your proposed changes produce an allowed study plan, i.e., in terms of credits of the various types. You will be able to propose your changes within a specific schedule that is communicated each year. How much Artificial Intelligence can we find in Robotics Engineering? Actually, from the 2020/21 Academic Year, Robotics Engineering introduces new courses, more geared towards Artificial Intelligence, but to be framed in the context of Robotics. In fact, robots are not just computer systems, but they are embodied computer system having to physically interact with humans and their environment. This poses a few constraints (but also challenges and opportunities) for the application of Artificial Intelligence techniques to Robotics. New courses include Artificial Intelligence for Robotics 1 (first year, first semester), Artificial Intelligence for Robotics 2 (first year, second semester), Machine Learning for Robotics 1 (first year, second semester), and Machine Learning for Robotics 2 (second year, first semester). Ancillary courses deal with Artificial Intelligence as well, and these include Virtual Reality for Robotics (second year, first semester), Ambient Intelligence (second year, first semester), and Computer Vision (first year, second semester).
