    OVERVIEW

    
    The health anthropology seeks to know the link between the concepts of health, environment and pay homage to the medico-biological requirements with numerous cultural stimuli that act before and during illness. The acquisition of an "anthropological approach" allows you to put into due consideration the biological determinants of the disease.
    

    AIMS AND CONTENT

    The course has as main objectives:
    - To make the student capable of dealing with the issues related to health, the environment (biotic and abiotic), the disease through an "anthropological perspective";
    - Become aware of the close relationship between the human being and the natural and social environment.

    • To enable the student to address issues concerning health, the environment (biotic and abiotic), and disease through an "anthropological perspective."
    • To become aware of the close relationship between humans and their natural and cultural environment.

    EXPECTED LEARNING OUTCOMES

    • To have acquired adequate knowledge and an effective understanding of the concepts expressed during the lectures.
    • To apply the knowledge acquired and to understand and solve problems related to the anthropology of health in all its extensions.
    • To use both conceptually and operationally the acquired knowledge with autonomous evaluation ability and skills in different application contexts.
    • To develop adequate learning skills to enable them to continue to explore the main themes of the discipline independently, especially in the work contexts in which they will be working.

    TEACHING METHODS

    The course is provided online with online assistance for the entire course duration and offers activities for in-depth study in the presence of experienced teachers. It is divided into modules consisting of video lessons, videos and slides. At the end of each teaching unit, there is a self-assessment test, which aims to strengthen the key concepts by reflecting on the content covered and facilitating the preparation for the final exam in attendance. Seminars and in-depth exercises are planned.

    • Definition and fields of study in anthropology.
    • The concept of normality.
    • The perennial osmosis between nature and culture: the example of secular trends.
    • Human differentiation in time and space.
    • Disease, illness, sickness.
    • The concepts of health and illness in 'other' populations.
    • Populations, cultures, diseases: different medical knowledge.
