Final project

What is

For admission to the graduate examination, you must have completed all the credits required by the educational regulations of your degree program.

The undergraduate examination consists of the discussion of a thesis prepared under the guidance of a thesis advisor and a co-rapporteur.

You will have 18 CFUs available for the preparation of the thesis, which must take place in clinical or basic university facilities.

This activity is referred to as "Graduate Internship" and must:

  • be carried out outside the hours devoted to official teaching activities without overlapping with elective activities (ADEs)
  • be required no earlier than December of the 4th year of the course

Graduation session

You will have to pre-prepare two copies of the thesis, bound with red cover and with the title page signed by you and the thesis advisor:

  • one to be handed to the thesis advisor a few days before the session
  • one as a personal copy

You will have to discuss the contents of your thesis, summarized in a series of slides, in a maximum time of 10 minutes.

The graduation committees will be made public in the dedicated page and in the school website.

Online thesis uploading

By seven days before your graduation session, you must fill in the fields related to the Thesis Abstract, both in Italian and English through the Web Student portal.

The Service is active for the Degree Program in:

  • Medicine and Surgery during the period June 10 to July 31, 2020
  • Dentistry and Prosthodontics during the period June 10 to July 9, 2020

Remember to respect the timeframe for submitting abstracts to allow time for the committee to evaluate the papers.

By the day before your session, you must upload to the Web Students portal the thesis pdf file. Next, your thesis advisor will have to approve the online documentation in the same way he or she approved your graduation application.

Copies of the thesis

You must printtwo copies of your thesis. One stays with you and the other you have to give to your thesis advisor a few days before your graduation session.

The copy must be red and you have no structure or font constraints.

N.B.If your session is held remotely, you do not need to give it to the thesis advisor.

Evaluation

To determine the graduation grade, expressed in one hundredth of a second, contribute:

  • the arithmetic mean of the grades achieved in the curricular examinations, expressed in one hundredth of a second
  • if you graduate by the 6th year, a score related to the graduation session:
    • 3 points for the summer one
    • 3 points for the fall one
    • 1 point for the extraordinary one
  • up to 2 points for each lode obtained (+0.2 points per praise)
  • the result obtained in each Progress Test: 0.2 to 1.2 points if higher than the median of the score of each of the two tests (basic and clinical) in the year of the course in which you are enrolled
  • from 0 to 2 points for international exchange programs (related to duration): 0.2 points per month
  • up to a maximum of 8 points awarded by the committee at the thesis discussionso divided:
    • Typology of research (experimental study; case presentation; case report; compilative study): maximum 5 points
    • Quality of the presentation: maximum 1 point
    • Pronunciation of the topic: maximum 1 point
    • Ability in discussion: maximum 1 point

The overall grade is:

  • determined by the sum of the points discussed above
  • rounded up or down to the nearest whole number

Honor may be awarded by unanimous opinion of the committee if you have achieved a final score greater than or equal to 110/ 110.
