What is a CFU

A Credito Formativo Universitario (CFU) is the Italian equivalent of the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS). On average, one CFU corresponds to 25 hours of work, including classroom lectures, labs, projects and independent preparation.

What is the master's degree

A master's degree program aims to ensure that you are trained at an advanced level for the pursuit of highly qualified activities.

To earn a master's degree, you must acquire 120 CFUs, equivalent to 2 years of study.

You can enter the master's degree only if you have earned a graduate degree or an equivalent qualification (pre-degree, university diploma - 3 years, direct school for special purposes - 3 years).

Part-time enrollment

If you know you cannot devote yourself full-time to your studies, you can choose to enroll part-time, with a decrease in the amount of tuition fees, equal to the category of partiality you choose from:

  • 1ˆ category - up to 15 CFUs: pay a contribution equal to 25% of the amount due
  • 2ˆ category - up to 30 CFU: pays a contribution equal to 50% of the amount due

To complete a part-time study plan, you must access the compilation of an individual plan. Each year, with the compilation of the study plan, you can change the category, or decide to return to full-time.

Study plan

This is the pathway that includes all the educational activities (lectures, labs, etc.) you have to do to earn your degree. Some activities are mandatory, others must be chosen from several options, and still others are free choice. The study plan must be completed each year. Filling out the study plan, by the deadline and correctly, is essential for you to be able to register and take exams.

Study plans are filled outbetween September and October exclusively online from the Online Services for Students.

The office that manages study plan entry in student careers is the One Stop Shop (sportello.lettere@unige.it).

In case of difficulty in filling in you can avail yourself of the support of the student tutors, who conduct reception at Room O in Via Balbi 4.

Teaching sheets

In the fact sheet of each teaching published on the website UniGe you will find information about the objectives and contents, bibliography, lecturer in charge of the course, examination mode.

Class schedule

You can check the class schedule through the Easyacademy portal.

Evaluation of teaching

Within the scheduled periods, it is mandatory to fill out, as an attendee or non-attendee, the teaching and support services evaluation questionnaires by accessing the Online Services page of UniGe.

There are two surveys available: Teaching Assessment and Annual Course of Study Assessment, both anonymous. For the evaluation of individual teachings you will have to wait until the curriculum is entered in your career.

Examinations

You can check the schedule of exam calls on the Course of Study website under "Students" > Exam Calendar. To find out the classroom in which they will be held you need to consult the Easyacademy portal a few days before the call.

Registration for examinations is compulsory and should generally be done at least 5 days before the date of the appeal you want to register for (or other deadline set by the professor).
Registration should be done online through the Online Student Services portal. From here you can view the exams that have been included in the syllabus and for which an appeal of your choice can be booked. In addition, you can view the exams for which you have already booked and if necessary cancel the booking.

Tutoring service

Tutors are a point of reference for students, especially freshmen: they are available for assistance in compiling study plans and other paperwork, such as filling out degree applications.

Guidance tutors are available every week in Balbi 4 (lecture room O, ground floor) and online, on the Teams platform; teaching tutors provide support in the preparation of examinations or individual teaching units and can also provide support in the drafting aspects of final examinations.

Consult the website of the Guidance and Tutoring Service for more information.

It also makes use, especially in the case of courses attended by a large number of students, of the classrooms located in the other sites of the so-called "Balbi Pole": Albergo dei Poveri, Darsena, Polo didattico delle Fontane.

.

More information is available in the "Attachments" section.
